Reflection:

Day 1   It was sweltering outside, the coordiator disappeared to retrieve a forgotten inhaler for one of the team members, who climbed a tree to take a photo of a bird's nest. Our leader was quite resourceful, and found all but one cache box. Our navigator stepped up to plate to take over for the heat-stricken recorder. The photographer did quite an oustanding job photographing evidence of wildlife, along with the antics of the members and their coach. No one relished in the idea of crossing over the swamp, and it was quite interesting to see us all on our hands and knees searching for that elusive cache box. We all agree that it would have been better if each group's coordinates were random, for the group following us observed our every move and took advantage of our hard work.

Day 2  Today was exceptionally better, as the weather was perfect for geo caching.  We worked better today as a group, each individual working in his/her respective roles.  It was also more of a challenge, as we had to think more critically.  It was easier to use the GPS this week.  We could quickly put in coordinates and navigate to the given places.  We did not have the issue of the following group finding caches due to our hard work.  We learned to get what we needed and move quickly.  Our team leader was WONDERFUL!!!

Classroom Application

Day 1

When you return to school in the fall, how will you use what you learned today in your classroom?

Fabulous cross-curricular ideas! I'd like to learn more about online caching, and use the travel bug to introduce the students to NC and US geography.

How will you use what you learned today to train the teachers in your school?
